Always dress appropriately for the weather, which means if it is hot, you will need to dress according to the weather. Remember that a paintball may leave a welt or bruise, but heat stroke can kill you.
The best way to dress to play paintball is like you’re going to do yard work. It’s best to cover all exposed skin. Wear long pants, long sleeve t-shirt, some type of sports shoe or boots (no open-toe shoes), and a baseball cap turned around backward will help protect the back of your head. Some players may want to add protection items like gloves and neck protectors. If it is raining or muddy, always remember to bring a clean change of clothes.
Top 4 Tips for New Players
Tip 1 — Practice, Shoot and Move
- Before you go out to play, head to the target range to get a feel for how the paintball marker fires and test your accuracy!
- If you are shooting at them, they won’t be able to shoot back, so be sure to shoot and move!
Tip 2 — Shoulder Your Marker and Stay Ready
- Shoulder your paintball marker like you would a rifle. The more stable the marker is against your shoulder, the more accurate you will be!
- Keep your eyes down the field and your marker up so you’re ready for opportunities and anyone moving!
Tip 3 — Plan Your Flank
- On most maps, flanking the opponent is key! You don’t want to go up the center and let the other team surround you. Keep that in mind before the game starts so you can plan your strategy!
Tip 4 — Talk to Your Team
- Your team is your best asset! Make sure you know the names of everyone on your team, and communicate on the field by using each other’s names to pass on important details in the game!
- You can’t work together or make smart moves without the information, so keep talking and pull out the W!
